Holdfast is a wideadjustable belt designed to act as the grounding boundary of the look, worn low on the hips to bring structural tension and hand-worked detail to the entire silhouette.
Made entirely by hand from linen, the band is hand-dyed in natural indigo to a rich, deep blue. The entire surface of the belt is then transformed by dense Kogin embroidery, a traditional Japanese counted-stitch technique. Hand-stitched with precision, the geometric pattern mirrors the crisp, structural lines found on the collar and hem of Ribline, turning a functional accessory into a concentrated canvas of hand-craft.
The design plays with practical mechanics and raw detail. Rather than using modern hardware, the belt is secured by a rugged cord that ties by hand, allowing you to adjust the tension and placement easily.
The contrast between the rigid, heavily embroidered band and the casual, hanging ties creates a beautiful visual rhythm against the fluid gathers of Smockswell or the structure of Whirlwrap.
The silhouette is wide and anchoring, specifically patterned to sit comfortably on the hips or lower waist. It compresses the layers beneath it, holding the fabric close to the body and adding an intentional, sharp line of definition.
Holdfast will develop a beautiful patina over time: because it is worn at the waist where friction is constant, the natural indigo will rub and soften along the edges of the heavy canvas and the raised Kogin stitches, creating a beautiful, high-contrast wear pattern unique to how you move.
