Collaboration with Levi's & Jean Prouvé
Presented during Dutch Design Week 2023 in Eindhoven,
this project was developed as part of a collaboration between Levi's and the work of Jean Prouvé.
Using reclaimed Levi's denim, Sophie Cagniart reinterpreted the chair through a textile seat and wall hanging, transforming a familiar everyday object into a reflection on clothing consumption, use and repair.
Garments accumulated and stitched using Sashiko embroidery become both material and surface, giving discarded denim a new function while preserving traces of its previous life.
The project explores how repair and craftsmanship can alter our perception of an object's value and extend its life beyond its original purpose.
