Whirlwrap is a long, structural wrap skirt designed to balance a heavy, grounded presence with the natural fluidity of movement.

Made entirely by hand from light cotton, this skirt is hand-dyed in a  vibrant shade of the indigo.

One side of the wrap panel is entirely transformed by the Hanmaru Tsunagi (overlapping half-circles) Sashiko pattern, hand-embroidered in stark white thread. The rhythmic geometry of the arches sweeps across the dark blue canvas, a quiet nod to cresting waves and overlapping fish scales.

The design plays with asymmetry and hidden detail: while one side remains a solid expanse of deep indigo, the other holds the dense texture of the hand-stitched pattern. As you walk, the wrap panel shifts and opens, creating a dynamic visual contrast between the stillness of the solid blue and the movement of the white stitches.

The silhouette is clean and long, offering a structured wrap fit that anchors the lower half of the body. It fastens around the waist or small hips, allowing the light fabric to drape beautifully and hold its intentional shape throughout the day.

Whirlwrap will develop a beautiful patina over time: the friction of daily wear and exposure to sunlight will naturally soften the deep indigo, causing the highs and lows of the fabric to surface and giving the hand-stitched geometry an even deeper, more lived-in character.
