I created Indigo Field No. 01 using the traditional Japanese Nui Shibori technique.
The surface is entirely shaped by hand through stitched resist, then dyed in a natural indigo vat. The color is built in successive layers, allowing the textile to develop depth and variation rather than a flat, uniform tone.
The composition emerges through this process, a balance between structure and movement, where the stitched patterns define the rhythm across the cloth.
Natural indigo gives the piece its particular intensity. It holds depth, softness, and subtle tonal shifts that continue to respond to light over time.
This work is conceived as a textile piece meant to hold space with clarity. It is presented on a solid wooden rod in a deep chestnut tone, allowing it to hang simply and without visual interference.
Each stage, stitching, dyeing, and finishing is carried out by hand.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece.
