This jacket began as a vintage blue worker jacket, chosen for its cut, weight, and durability.
I have embroidered the entire surface by hand with Sashiko in my atelier over the course of roughly two weeks of work and 600 meters of thread. The embroidery is structured around repetition and symmetry, drawing from the logic of Nordic sweaters.
Patterns mirror each other from sleeve to sleeve and meet cleanly at the front closure, so the jacket reads as one complete surface rather than a collection of separate details.
The jacket is intentionally left unlined.
On the inside, the reverse of the embroidery remains visible, threads, tension, and rhythm offering a direct view into the making process and the amount of handwork involved. This is a one-of-a-kind piece, built slowly and deliberately, combining an existing garment with extensive hand embroidery.
It’s made to be worn, layered, and lived in. It is a functional object that carries time, structure, and use.
