Step into the world of Sashiko

-

Sashiko is more than a stitch,

it’s a rhythm, a way of slowing down,

and a practice that connects us to

centuries of Japanese craft.

This 2h recorded workshop brings the depth and structure of my in-person and live courses into a format you can follow

at your own rhythm.

It is not a quick tutorial or a collection of patterns. It is a guided introduction to Sashiko as a technique, a logic, and a tradition.

You will learn not only how to stitch, but why Sashiko works the way it does,

so you can confidently continue on your own.

Level : Suitable for complete beginners

The Project & The Outcome

In this workshop, you’ll begin your Sashiko journey by working on small patches.

Together, we’ll focus on one patch, slowly building traditional Hitomezashi patterns stitch by stitch. The aim is not speed, but rhythm. Finding the quiet flow of the needle and truly understanding the technique and hand movements.

What makes this course different:

This course is designed to move you away from copying patterns and

toward real understanding.

We take the time to slow down, look closely, and build a strong foundation.

Each module builds on the previous one, so by the end, you understand the structure behind Sashiko patterns and can adapt them independently.

This is a course for people from all level of experience who want to learn

with respect for the craft and confidence in their hands.

After the workshop, you will:

  • Understand the history and cultural context of Sashiko

  • Know which materials to use and why they matter

  • Feel confident with the basic Sashiko stitching technique

  • Learn how patterns are built, structured, and repeated

  • Understand how to read, deconstruct, and adapt patterns

  • Work confidently with grids and rhythm

  • Move beyond following designs and begin creating your own

This course is not about perfection.
It’s about understanding the craft and feeling capable of practicing it independently.
