SILENT WAVE
indigo

Begin your creative journey
Learn how to repair and embellish your textiles
through the art of Sashiko embroidery

Presented by Sophie Cagniart,
founder of Silent Wave Indigo
With a background in Fashion design and Pattern making from France I chose to express myself through
traditional crafts, using denim and discarded jeans
to create one of a kind, handcrafted pieces.
After experimenting with my choice fabric for years,
I decided to focus my work on using different traditional Japanese techniques
like Sashiko, Sakiori or Shibori.
All these crafts allow me to create different textures and patterns that I combine in minimal designs,
giving the simplest fabrics a rich hand feel
as well as an intricate look.
The Workshops will be hosted on
The Stitching Practice

Using Japanese embroidery techniques, you’ll hand-stitch a textile and transform it into a Furoshiki-style bag.
Includes a complete materials kit and three live online classes.
Suitable for anyone comfortable with hand-stitching, whether you’ve done Sashiko before or have embroidery experience.

Visible Mending
With Sashiko
Bring a garment that needs repair and learn how to mend it beautifully using Sashiko stitching.
In this small-group live session, we focus on practical application: how to assess the damage, reinforce fabric properly, transfer a pattern, and stitch with intention so your repair is both strong and visually striking.
This is not a beginner introduction to running stitches. It’s a guided space to apply Sashiko techniques to real-life mending, with direct feedback and hands-on support.
You’ll leave with a repaired piece in progress (or completed), a clearer technical understanding of Sashiko for reinforcement, and the confidence to continue mending on your own.
Small group. Focused guidance. Real skills.
Live Workshop:
Moyōzashi Sashiko Patterns
Master eight Moyōzashi Sashiko patterns and gain the confidence to trace, plan, and adapt them to your own creations.
Step into the world of Moyōzashi Sashiko,
where lines become rhythm, grids become structure,
and patterns come alive.
In this live workshop, you’ll explore eight classic Moyōzashi Sashiko designs, learning not just to copy them, but to understand their flow, trace them with confidence, and create your own reusable templates.
Through guided practice, you’ll discover how each pattern works, from the scale of the grids
to the sequence of the stitches,
so you can approach fabric with clarity and creativity.
This is your chance to go beyond pre-made templates and bring your embroidery to life with intention, precision, and a sense of play.
Small group. Focused guidance. Real skills you can
carry into every project.
